Mental Domination & Mind Control
Mental Domination
Domination that works on the psyche rather than the body. The dominant steers the sub's thoughts, feelings and behaviour through language, expectation, conditioning and psychological technique. The goal is submission in the mind – it needs neither rope nor strike to be complete.
Mindfuck
An umbrella term for mental games in which the mind is deliberately clouded to trigger a loss of control and steer the will. In hypnosis, mindfuck is used to bypass the listener's will without them noticing right away – through surprising suggestions, utilisation and triggered bodily responses.
→ Related: Mind Control, Brainwashing
Mind Control
The consensual use of psychological techniques – suggestion, conditioning, role-play – to influence thought and behaviour. The name sounds like outside control; what is meant is a shared fantasy in which the sub willingly lets themselves be led.
→ Related: Mindfuck, Conditioning
Consciousness Control
Directing what the sub's awareness rests on – attention, perception, focus. Closely related to mind control, but aimed at the whole state of consciousness.
Mental Play
The umbrella term for play that targets thought, perception and expectation rather than the body – from suggestion and roles to mindfuck.
→ See: Mental Domination
Brainwashing (Mental Programming)
Intensive conditioning repeated over a long time that shifts the sub's self-image – toward deeper submission or fixed patterns of obedience. Widespread as a fantasy, real enough in its effect to be taken seriously and accordingly risky.
Conditioning
Repeatedly pairing a stimulus – a word, a touch, a reward or punishment – with a response until it runs automatically. The principle is Pavlov's dogs: arousal or obedience on a signal. Deep-seated patterns and lasting change come above all from repetition over time.
→ Related: Trigger, Hypnotic Conditioning
Gaslighting (in a BDSM context)
Deliberately making the sub doubt their own perception to create insecurity and dependence. In play only ever consensual, clearly negotiated and with careful aftercare – otherwise it leaves the ground of consent.
Predicament Play
The sub is placed in a no-win situation that forces an uncomfortable choice – every option has its price. The tension comes from the decision itself rather than from what follows.
Erotic Hypnosis
Technique & States
Affirmation
A positively phrased sentence repeated to anchor an attitude or belief. In trance it works more deeply.
Amnesia (consensual)
The consensual, hypnotically induced forgetting of parts of a session. The sub consciously doesn't remember certain suggestions while they keep working unconsciously.
Anchoring
Linking a particular feeling to a trigger – a gesture, a word, a touch – so the stimulus later reliably calls up the feeling. Related to the trigger, but broader.
Audio Hypnosis
Hypnosis through a recording rather than live conversation; the listener chooses the place, the time and the repetition.
Emergence
The deliberate bringing of the sub back out of trance into the waking state at the end of a session – the counterpart to the induction.
Expanded Awareness
A sense of widened or altered perception experienced in trance, often described as pleasant and freeing.
Binaural Beats / ASMR
Audio techniques that support relaxation and trance. Binaural beats use slightly offset frequencies in each ear, ASMR gentle cues that trigger a pleasant tingling.
Eye Fixation
An induction technique in which the gaze is fixed on a point until the lids grow heavy and trance sets in.
Rapid Induction
A very fast induction that brings trance within seconds, usually through a sudden stimulus or an interruption of what was expected.
Convincer
An early suggestion that proves to the sub that the trance is working – such as the idea that the eyelids won't open or the hand is stuck. The experienced effect deepens belief in the trance, and with it the trance itself.
Direct Suggestion
A clear, commanding suggestion ("Your eyes are closing now"). The counterpart to the indirect suggestion.
Dissociation
The feeling of being split off from one's own body or thinking – observing from the outside. In erotic hypnosis it deepens letting go and surrender.
Dominant Hypnosis
Hypnosis in a commanding, leading style that emphasises the power gap – the counterpart to gentle relaxation hypnosis.
Drop Trigger
A special trigger word (often "Sleep") that drops the sub instantly into deep trance without a long induction – usually set after prior conditioning.
Relaxation Hypnosis
Hypnosis aimed at relaxation, through gentle, inviting suggestions. A common entry form.
Erotic Hypnosis
Hypnosis used for erotic purposes – to heighten pleasure, deepen submission or live out fantasies. The hypnotist leads the sub through an induction into trance and gives suggestions there for feelings, perceptions or behaviour. Unlike therapeutic hypnosis it serves erotic experience and the exchange of power.
Fractionation
Quickly taking the sub out of and back into trance several times. Each time they fall deeper than before; the method markedly intensifies depth and surrender.
Future Pacing
In trance the sub imagines a future situation and rehearses the desired response in advance, so that it later occurs on its own.
Brainwaves (Alpha · Beta · Theta · Delta)
The brain works in different frequency ranges that correspond to different states of consciousness. Beta is alert everyday focus, Alpha relaxed wakefulness and light trance, Theta deep relaxation and deep trance, Delta deep sleep. Erotic hypnosis moves mainly in the Alpha and Theta range. The model is a common, simplified description – useful for orientation, not exact science.
Belief
A deeply anchored conviction about oneself or the world; in hypnosis the point of leverage for changing patterns.
Hypnodomme
A scene term for the dominant, leading hypnotist – the union of mistress and hypnosis expert.
Hypnosis
A focused trance state with heightened receptivity to suggestion, brought on by an induction. The basis of every form of play described here.
Hypnosis Kink / Hypno Kink
Hypnosis as a consensual erotic form of play – the umbrella for pleasure and power games using hypnotic means.
Hypnotic Conditioning
Conditioning anchored in trance to link stimuli with responses for the long term – such as arousal or climax on command. Trance makes the link deeper and more durable than in the waking state.
Hypnotic Language Patterns
Forms of speech that bypass the critical mind and let suggestions work more easily: nesting, ambiguity, embedded commands (the Milton model).
Ideomotor Response
Involuntary bodily responses driven by the unconscious in trance, such as a slight finger lift as an answering signal.
Indirect Suggestion
A suggestion wrapped casually ("Perhaps you notice how heavy your arm becomes"); it works more subtly than the direct one.
Induction
The technique by which trance is brought on. Common routes are progressive muscle relaxation, eye fixation, a calm, lulling conversation or a surprising stimulus (shock induction). It brings the listener from the waking into the receptive state.
Interaction
Hypnosis in direct exchange, where the hypnotist responds to the sub's reactions – the counterpart to a fixed audio recording.
Yes-Set
A series of statements the sub agrees with, until agreeing becomes a habit and the next suggestion is accepted more easily.
Catalepsy
A muscular rigidity induced in trance, such as an arm held motionless in the air – a classic proof of trance.
Confusion
A technique that overloads the mind with contradictions or sensory excess until it gives up control and lets suggestions pass unchecked.
Contraindication
Circumstances under which hypnosis should not be used. Responsible practice clears this in the pre-talk.
Loops / Nested Stories
Techniques that bypass the critical mind: loops are endlessly repeated audio mantras; nested stories embed story within story until the conscious thread breaks and suggestions pass unchecked.
Mantra
A short, repeated formula the sub says inwardly or aloud until it takes hold. Mantras anchor a suggestion or a headspace through sheer repetition.
Pacing & Leading
First follow the sub and mirror their state, then lead. The basic move for building trust and then steering.
Post-Hypnotic Suggestion / Trigger
A stimulus set in advance – a word, a sound, a touch – that later, even outside trance, triggers a trained response: arousal, obedience, sometimes an HFO.
→ Related: Conditioning, Drop Trigger, HFO
Rapport
The trusting connection between hypnotist and hypnotised person. No depth without rapport – it is the precondition for anyone letting themselves be led at all.
Reframing
Reinterpreting a situation or feeling so that the same thing takes on a new meaning.
Regression
The hypnotic guiding back to earlier experiences, feelings or phases of life.
Resistance Play
The playful, consensual resisting of the trance or the suggestions. The appeal lies in the contest and the moment of giving in.
Self-Hypnosis
Trance induced by oneself without outside guidance, e.g. to anchor one's own mantras or suggestions.
Somnambulism
A very deep trance state in which the sub can speak, move or open their eyes and still remain deeply hypnotised. Considered the state in which complex suggestions take hold most strongly.
Spiral
The rotating spiral as a classic focus and induction image – and the best-known symbol of the hypnosis scene. It binds the gaze and eases the slide into trance.
Subject / Sub
The hypnotised person who lets themselves be led.
Subliminals
Subliminal suggestions embedded in an audio, meant to work below conscious awareness, often combined with audible suggestions.
Subspace
An altered, trance-like state of deep surrender a sub slides into during intense submission – loosened, weightless, far away.
Suggestion
A thought or impulse set in trance that feels to the sub like their own. Because the inner guard steps back in trance, the suggestion sinks deeper and stays.
Deep Trance
A deep trance state in which suggestions take particularly strong hold; at its far end stands somnambulism.
→ See: Trance Depth
Trance
A relaxed, strongly focused state of consciousness in which the critical mind steps back and the unconscious becomes more accessible. Suggestions work deeper and stay longer in this state. You remain yourself the whole time, only more permeable, and can leave the trance again at any moment.
Trance Indicators
Outward signs that someone is in trance: calmer breathing, fluttering lids, relaxed features, slowed responses.
Trance Logic
The peculiarity of trance to accept contradictions and the impossible without protest.
Trance Depth
Hypnosis comes in different depths, from light relaxation to somnambulism. A common myth is that only deep trance works – it doesn't. Even a light trance takes in suggestions; how deep someone goes and how receptive they are varies from person to person and says nothing about success.
Unconscious / Subconscious
The part of the mind outside conscious thought, where habits, reactions and imprints sit – the main point of leverage for hypnosis.
Utilisation
Taking up whatever the sub presents – a sound, a movement, a resistance – and building it into the trance instead of working against it.
Reinforcer
A means that firms up a suggestion – repetition, reward or a confirming signal.
Deepener
A technique right after the induction that strengthens the trance until the state is stable and deep – often through counting, descending images (stairs, lift) or repeated lowering.
Visualisation
The guided inner seeing of images or scenes to deepen the trance and make suggestions vivid.
Pre-Talk (Negotiation)
The conversation before the session in which limits, goals, triggers and taboos are clarified. It creates safety and sets what is allowed and what is not.
Vulnerability
The heightened openness and vulnerability in trance – the reason trust and responsibility weigh so heavily here.
Waking Hypnosis / Waking Suggestion
Hypnotic effect without a formal trance, in the ordinary waking state, through attention, expectation and language.
Effective Suggestion
A suggestion that actually lands – one that triggers a noticeable response, change or sensation rather than just being heard. How strongly it works depends on trust, timing, voice, repetition and meaning; often a single word at the right moment is enough.
Time Distortion
The altered sense of time in trance: minutes feel like hours, or the reverse. Used to stretch experience or make a long session seem short.
Roles & Fantasies:
HFO (Hands-Free Orgasm)
An orgasm triggered by suggestion and trance alone, entirely without touch. It is regarded as the supreme discipline of erotic hypnosis, because it shows that the mind can fully lead the body.
Orgasm Hypnosis
Erotic hypnosis aimed specifically at climax – up to the HFO, the orgasm by voice alone.
→ See: HFO
Bimbofication (Bimbo Hypnosis)
A hypnotic transformation fantasy in which the sub takes on the self-image of a "bimbo": heightened focus on looks and pleasure, emphatically feminine, with complex thought deliberately turned down. A consensual role fantasy with no real change.
IQ Drop (IQ Reduction / Dumbing Down / Level Drain)
Suggestions through which the sub experiences their mental sharpness as temporarily lowered – an empty, compliant headspace. A pure fantasy effect, often combined with bimbofication; intelligence does not actually change.
Drone (Drone Play)
A transformation fantasy in which the sub becomes a will-less "drone" – identity replaced by a number or unit, mechanical obedience, often as part of a larger "hive".
Doll (Doll Play / Dollification)
The sub becomes a doll: poseable, objectified, passive, often hypnotically "frozen" and arrangeable. Reduction to an object is the core of the fantasy.
Robot (Robot Play)
The sub becomes a programmable robot that carries out commands literally and without will. Related to drone play, with more emphasis on programming and command.
Possession
The fantasy of being completely taken over and steered, as if one's own will belonged to another. A frequent motif in the scene's stories and audios.
Identity Play / Transformation
The umbrella for all hypnotic transformation fantasies (doll, robot, drone, bimbo and more): the temporary change of self is part of the arousal and eases the giving up of control.
Femdom Principles
Femdom (Female Domination)
Female dominance describes any form of play or relationship in which the woman takes the leading, controlling role and the submissive part yields. It ranges from single sessions through regular meetings to a continuous way of life. At the centre is less physical force than the woman's authority – exercised through instruction, rules and the deliberate play of the power gap. Femdom is the umbrella under which most of the following practices belong.
Dominance
The role and bearing of the person who takes the lead in a dynamic. Dominance is more than deciding – it shows in presence, clarity and an inner authority the other gladly yields to. In femdom it rests with the woman.
Submission (submissive)
The role of the person who consciously yields and hands over control. Submission means no passivity but the free decision to follow and respond to leadership – for many the appeal lies precisely in this clear division of roles.
Power Gap
The deliberately created inequality of control and decision-making between those involved: one leads, the other follows. This clear structure is what generates the tension a D/s dynamic lives on. In femdom the gap is usually plainly visible and shapes the whole interaction.
FLR (Female-Led Relationship)
A relationship in which the woman holds lasting leadership – not only in play but in everyday life. The range is wide: it can be limited to certain areas, such as finances or how free time is spent, or shape the whole shared life. Unlike a pure session dynamic, an FLR runs continuously and is often lived as a chosen model by both partners.
→ Related: D/s, TPE
Protocol
Set rules of conduct that make the hierarchy between dominant and sub visible – how he addresses her, how he holds himself, whether he may hold eye contact, which rituals apply. Three rough levels are distinguished: low protocol (loose, everyday), mid protocol and high protocol (strict and formal). The higher the protocol, the more is prescribed and the more clearly submission shows outward.
High Protocol
The strictest level of protocol with fixed, formal rules – in the session or continuously in daily life. Typical elements are kneeling on entering a room, a prescribed form of address, a lowered gaze or waiting for permission before speaking. High protocol demands discipline and practice and is often experienced as an especially intense form of surrender.
Honorifics (Forms of Address)
The titles of honour by which a sub addresses his dominant, acknowledging her superiority – "Mistress", "Goddess", "Ma'am". The prescribed address is a simple, ever-present way to mark the power gap, and part of protocol.
Service Submission
A form of submission in which the sub draws pleasure and fulfilment from serving the dominant – through housework, errands, grooming or other tasks. The appeal lies in the serving itself, without immediate sexual return. For many subs being useful is the deepest expression of their devotion.
Tease & Denial (T&D)
Arousal is deliberately built up by the dominant and broken off again and again, just before the sub reaches climax. This play of teasing and denying produces both frustration and heightened desire and can deepen surrender and longing greatly. In the end the orgasm may be refused entirely, drawn out or granted only "ruined". Tease & denial is the core of many femdom and chastity dynamics.
→ Related: Ruined Orgasm, Orgasm Control, Chastity
Body Worship
The sub worships a part of the dominant's body – often feet, legs, hands or boots – as a sign of submission. The worship ranges from admiring through kissing to caring tending. At the centre is the gesture of making oneself small and raising the superior one.
Humiliation
Consensual humbling that becomes a source of pleasure for the sub – verbal through demeaning words or through humiliating tasks. Being deliberately made small makes the power gap physically tangible. The clear agreement on what is wanted as a thrill and what is taboo is decisive, because the line between exciting and hurtful runs differently for everyone.
SPH (Small Penis Humiliation)
A special form of verbal humiliation focused on penis size. It lives on the played disdain and, like any humiliation, is only a thrill within the agreed frame.
FinDom / Financial Domination (Tribute)
Power exchange through money: the sub hands over money or control of his finances, and precisely this loss is the thrill. The tribute is an expression of the hierarchy, not its purpose – it makes the dominant's superiority tangible. The forms range from single gifts through regular tributes to taking over whole expenses.
Feminization & Sissification
Feminization
A role-play in which a male sub gradually takes on feminine traits – through clothing, make-up, bearing, speech and behaviour. For one the appeal lies in losing the male role, for another in enjoying the feminine. Feminization can be gentle and playful or staged within a forced fantasy.
Sissy
A male sub who slips into an emphatically feminine, submissive role – often with his own clothing, name and behaviour. The sissy role joins feminization with devotion and obedience.
Crossdressing
Wearing clothing socially ascribed to the other gender. Unlike feminization, crossdressing need not be tied to submission – it can be pure enjoyment, aesthetics or part of one's own identity. In a fetish and role-play context it is often about the effect the change of clothes has on self-image and presence.
Sissification
The process of guiding a sub step by step into the sissy role: through clothing and make-up, through speech and bearing, through tasks and rules. The transformation usually happens in stages and is steered by the dominant, until the sub takes on the feminine, submissive identity ever more deeply.
Makeover
The visible transformation of outward appearance – through make-up, clothing, hairstyling, posture and speech. In feminization the makeover often becomes a deliberate change of role that works not only visually but psychologically.
Forced Sissification
Sissification within a forced fantasy: in the shared play the sub is "forced" to take on the feminine role although he supposedly doesn't want it, and precisely this played resistance heightens the thrill. As with any forced fantasy the force is pure staging within a previously negotiated frame; in truth the sub has agreed.
→ Related: CNC
Forced Bi
A forced fantasy in which the sub is "forced" into bisexual acts in the shared play. The appeal lies in dissolving a self-set boundary under the dominant's authority. Here too: the force is staging, consent was given beforehand, and the real limits stay intact.
→ Related: CNC
Chastity & Orgasm Control
Chastity
Controlled sexual abstinence in which the dominant decides whether and when the sub finds satisfaction. It is often secured physically with a chastity device, but can also work through rules and trust alone ("honour chastity"). The appeal lies in voluntarily handing over control of one's own pleasure – a lasting state of devotion reaching far beyond the single session.
Chastity Cage
A device that locks access to the genitals and so enforces abstinence. For men it is usually a penis cage; there are also belt variants and models for women. The history behind it is striking: the popular tale of the medieval knight locking his wife in a chastity belt before the crusade is today considered a myth by historians – the earliest known depiction comes from a 1405 treatise on siege machinery and was probably meant as a joke, real medieval evidence is lacking, and the "originals" on display today are largely 19th-century fakes. As a serious object the chastity device exists mainly in the present, as a tool in BDSM.
Keyholder (Keyholding)
The person who holds the key to the chastity cage and so decides on every release. Keyholding can run over days, weeks or months and works at a distance too – the sub wears the cage, the keyholder holds the power. This very asymmetry is the core of the dynamic.
Chastity Belt
The belt variant of chastity securing, which locks access to the genital area – historically the form ascribed to women, today rarer than the penis cage. For the much-told and largely invented history of the medieval chastity belt, see the entry Chastity Cage.
→ See: Chastity Cage
Orgasm Control
The umbrella for all practices in which the dominant decides whether, when and how the sub may climax. These include edging, orgasm denial, the ruined orgasm and chastity. Control over pleasure is one of the most effective means of mental and physical dominance.
Permission Principle
A dynamic in which certain acts may only happen when the dominant expressly allows them – from orgasm to small everyday things. Because even the trivial needs a release, a constant sense of control and anticipation arises. The principle is closely tied to chastity and orgasm control.
Orgasm Denial
The deliberate, often long-term refusal of climax. The sub is kept aroused without release – over hours, days or weeks. The pent-up urge heightens obedience, focus and devotion.
Edging
Repeatedly bringing to the edge of climax and deliberately stopping just before. The sub is held at the brink again and again without going over. Edging heightens arousal and frustration and is a central technique of tease & denial.
Ruined Orgasm
The sub is stimulated – by hand or with toys such as vibration or a milking machine – up to just before climax. At the decisive moment the stimulation is abruptly broken off: the hand lets go, the device is switched off. The orgasm then runs "into nothing" without further stimulation, and the actual satisfaction stays out. The ruined orgasm is regarded as the crown of tease & denial, because it joins release and denial in the same moment.
Chastity Contract
A written agreement setting out the rules, duration and consequences of chastity – how long the cage is worn, under what conditions releases occur and what penalties rule-breaks bring. The contract is usually symbolic but gives the dynamic commitment and structure.
Long-Term Chastity
Chastity over weeks, months or longer, with rare or entirely absent releases. The longer the denial lasts, the more it shapes the sub's longing and devotion.
Relationship Forms & Consent
D/s (Dominance/submission)
The basic form of every power exchange in BDSM: one person takes the lead (dominant), the other yields (submissive). D/s can be limited to single scenes or lived as a continuous way of life, and it emphasises the psychological power gap more than physical pain. From this basic form the more intense variants such as TPE and M/s derive.
24/7
A D/s dynamic that runs around the clock, with no clear off-times. The roles apply in everyday life too, often governed by fixed rituals, tasks and protocols. 24/7 demands much trust and clear agreement from both, so the dynamic stays workable in real life.
TPE (Total Power Exchange)
The total exchange of power, in which the sub hands almost all decision-making to the dominant – in daily life, often over finances and body too. The limits are negotiated thoroughly in advance, yet within this frame the control is comprehensive and continuous. TPE resembles a very intense FLR but goes further in the extent of the power gap, and is lived as a way of life, not as play time.
M/s (Master/slave or Mistress/slave)
A particularly intense form of TPE in which the sub sees themselves as the dominant person's property. M/s usually works with high protocols, fixed rituals and a clear, often long-term hierarchy. The terms "master/mistress" and "slave" deliberately mark the depth of this devotion.
CNC (Consensual Non-Consent)
Consensual "non-consent": both agree in advance that the dominant may act within negotiated limits even when the sub says "no" in the moment. The appeal lies in the played loss of control – the actual consent was clearly given beforehand, and a safeword or fixed limits stay untouched. CNC is the basis of many forced fantasies such as forced sissification or forced bi.
CIS (Complete and Irrevocable Submission)
An intensification of TPE: complete and irrevocable submission, in which the sub hands over not only control but also the right ever to take it back. Precisely this giving up of the way back makes CIS highly controversial in the scene, because a submission that cannot be revoked undermines the principle of consent. A near-identical variant is DEBRIS, which formally leaves the sub a thin possibility of revocation.
Switch
A person who takes the dominant or the submissive role depending on situation and partner. Switches experience both sides of the power gap and move between them by choice.
Slave Contract
A usually symbolic written agreement setting out the roles, duties, rules and limits of a D/s, TPE or M/s relationship. It is not legally binding, but it creates clarity, commitment and a shared ritual of entering the dynamic.
Safety & Aftercare
Consent
The express, informed and voluntary agreement of everyone involved – the foundation every serious BDSM practice stands on. Without consent no act is play but an assault. Consent can be withdrawn at any time and is clarified anew before any more intense dynamic.
SSC (Safe, Sane, Consensual)
The oldest and best-known guiding principle of BDSM. It demands that play be physically safe, of sound mind and with everyone's agreement. SSC still serves as a simple ground rule for beginners to orient by.
RACK (Risk-Aware Consensual Kink)
A guiding principle that acknowledges no play is entirely free of risk, and therefore relies on informed decision rather than apparent safety. RACK is regarded as a more realistic development of SSC: those involved should know the risks and take them on knowingly.
PRICK (Personal Responsibility Informed Consensual Kink)
A further refinement that additionally stresses each person's personal responsibility: everyone involved is responsible for their own decisions, limits and safety.
Safeword
A word agreed in advance that stops any act at once – regardless of the running scene. Because a "no" in play is sometimes part of the staging (see CNC), a neutral signal is needed that stands clearly outside the role. The traffic-light system is common: "yellow" for slower or caution, "red" for an immediate stop. Only the safeword makes surrender truly safe.
Hard Limit / Soft Limit
Limits clarified before play. A hard limit is absolute and crossed under no circumstances. A soft limit is negotiable or situational – something the sub can allow under certain conditions, in the right mood or in time.
Aftercare
The deliberate care after an intense session: rest, warmth, something to drink, physical closeness or a conversation. It helps both find their way back from the intense emotional state into everyday life. Aftercare is considered as important as the play itself, because intense scenes stir deep feelings.
Drop (Sub Drop / Dom Drop)
An emotional crash that can set in hours or even days after an intense session – brought on by the ebbing of the hormones and feelings the play released. Both subs (sub drop) and dominants (dom drop) are affected. Good aftercare and follow-up contact cushion the drop.
Subspace / Domspace
Altered, trance-like states of consciousness one can enter during intense scenes: subspace is a euphoric, loosened, almost weightless state of deep surrender in the sub; its counterpart in the dominant is domspace, a state of high concentration and presence. Both arise from the intense experience and the hormones released.
